New Year Bird Count 2025

Event

1st January

10:30 am

In association with HSS

There may be 12 days of Christmas but there is only one day of the New Year. On that day we typically count a lot more birds than a lone partridge in a pear tree! Join us on 1st January 2025 at Clay House, West Vale meeting at 10.30 am. The expedition will be led by Steve Blacksmith. It may be an occasion to shake off New Year’s Eve hangover, or sip green tea from a thermos, or bring in the New Year with a tot of whisky from your hip flask! Whatever your preference, we have the 2024 record to beat which recorded an amazing 36 species. Recording begins when you wake up at home 00.00 hrs on 1st January 2025 and closes 24.00 hrs the same day. Owl hoots are permitted but claims of night flying ospreys will probably be rejected. If you can’t make it to the event in person, submit your records anyway. Happy New Year!
