Chris Tindal will lead a search for grasshoppers and crickets in the Clifton area of Brighouse. If it is warm day we should be spot them or hear their stridulations. However, some bushcrickets are easy to overlook because they occur in dense vegetation and stridulate at a frequency too high for humans to hear. But we might locate them using a bat detector. A great opportunity to learn how to identify common species of orthoptera in the field (weather-dependent). The area around Clifton is also good for other wildlife including a thriving colony of tree sparrows that we shall try to track down.
