Gill Wrigley: The Calderdale Sphagnum Project. Growing moss for Peat’s sake.

The Calderdale Sphagnum Project is funded for four years by The National Lottery Climate Action Fund. The project’s aim is to grow Sphagnum moss to address the causes and effects of Climate change.
Sphagnum moss creates peat, it raises the water table allowing other bog plants and the life that depends of them to flourish. It reduces flood and moorland fire risks and halts the release of carbon from the peat into the atmosphere.
Gill Wrigley, is a Horticulturalist, Field Naturalist and Sphagnum Project Officer for Calderdale Council.
